Sleeping Positions

I am amazed at the way this girl can fall asleep. How uncomfortable does this look? Lydia has not been too interested in getting rocked to sleep these days, so we try to rock her and if she doesn't want anything to do with it, we lay her in bed with her baby and a sippy and tell her good night. She usually fusses for a few minutes and then she's out. I always go in and cover her up and check on her after a few minutes....so happens this is what I walked in to one afternoon for nap. I just had to laugh!

I've always rocked Lydia to sleep, but a few months ago Ed said I was going to have to start getting her used to going to sleep on her own. Due to the fact that the new baby will be here, and it will be hard for me to rock two babies to sleep on my own. Needless to say, that didn't go over with Mommy so well...not rocking my baby to sleep...listening to her cry herself to sleep...what was he thinking!? I told him it could wait till February 4 got a little closer...she's only one and still a baby too! He didn't say too much else about it...I tend to be a little emotional these days!?! It was honestly something I was dreading changing, but it has been amazing to see how God has just totally taken care of it. Sometimes we forget that God cares about the small things, but He does and He took care of something for me that I was not looking forward to! I do miss rocking my baby to sleep, but we still find time every day to rock and read or sing songs or snuggle. She's growing up way too fast!

Boxes and Rocks with Cousin Avery

Who needs toys when you have empty boxes and a big rock pile? Lydia thought it was so great to be pushed around the house by Avery. They laughed and laughed!

Then Ed took them outside to play and they ended up in the big rock pile with the dog. If Ed is home on Fridays, he always takes them outside to play and give me a little break. Funny thing...they always need baths when they come in! I roll my eyes and Ed says, "but they had fun!" I guess that is all that really matters.

Lydia is 14 months old. She is very into babies right now, which I hope is still the case come February. She has started sleeping with this little baby she got when she was born and in the mornings we hear her saying baby, baby, baby over and over. She also knows where Mommy's baby is and thinks it's soooo funny to lift up my shirt and have me say baby. Sometimes she'll even give the baby a kiss! She'll be a great big sister!
